Metropolitan Line poetry

Mostly composed on the 07:33 to Finchley Road, then hastily typed up at work. Apart from the ones written surreptitiously in boring meetings or on the way home.

Irregular Rhythm

For my father, today. Holding you in the ligjht.

Fifty beats to tell you how I feel, to
shape emotions out of language, find ways
to show my love in five reluctant lines,
and end a manly silence that spans years:
forty faltering words that say I need you.
