Metropolitan Line poetry

Mostly composed on the 07:33 to Finchley Road, then hastily typed up at work. Apart from the ones written surreptitiously in boring meetings or on the way home.

After Twentysix

I went to bed with your words.

Driving home, your bootlegged voice
beside me, bass notes in a duet with the
supercharger's countertenor.

Your reading rang out from my speakers,
through the open roof, through traffic roar
to coaches, cars and lorries on the Westway,

soul music on an outdoor stage.
